About the talk
Illusions, Magic and Test Automation
As we face increased demands for speed, change and technical excellence—the pressure, and the need for automating aspects of testing increases. Successful test automation is not just about selecting and implementing tools and a technical infrastructure. People ensure the success or failure of the automation project; they must drive the project. Isabel is mid-way through a research project to explore test automation, focusing on two vital but often neglected elements of any automation project: attitudes towards automation and experiences of automation. So far, she’s uncovered some illusions about automation, some attempts at magic, and many new questions. In this reflection on her research to date, Isabel talks about learning new ways of working after decades in industry, her findings so far, what she’s discovered that will help your testing now, and her plans for the second half of the research. Join Isabel Evans and take away concepts to make your automation project people-driven: understand and overcome resistance to automation, manage expectations and deliver an optimal experience of the automation project.
