We now know that a large number of testing activities are no longer separate and are part of the continuous delivery value stream. The role of testing has evolved from ‘necessary evil’ to that of ‘gate keeper’ and ‘progress controller’ in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. To get the most out of what testing can deliver to your continuous delivery value stream there are key decisions which you need to get right. These include decisions around product architecture, value stream definition and the nature of the tests themselves. This talk is focussed on finally merging the ‘right’ testing activities into their rightful place in the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery space.
Fergal has 24 years’ experience in the software delivery industry and has operated at all levels from test automation architect through to senior manager and director. During his career, Fergal has worked for companies such as Nortel, Baltimore Technologies, Snap-on Diagnostics and Sabeo and in 2015 co-founded a software consultancy and product company ‘Expert Software Test’. His current position is that of Director of DevOps at First Data in it’s recently opened global R&D centre in Nenagh, Co.Tipperary. Qualifications include an honours degree in Electronic Engineering, certified scrum master and ISTQB certified tester at all advanced levels.
