If we address quality in terms of test cases passed we have lost half our audience and have little to say to the top table.

What effects quality within the SDLC are the influences beyond the SDLC. Believing that culture is the game changer, Fergal will explore how changing the mind-set of your organisation has more impact on quality than any process improvement initiatives, and may be a precursor to it.

Building a conspiracy of excellence amongst the dedicated few, can be understood and supported by senior management and becomes an unstoppable force for quality.

Fergal is a senior leader in quality for the last 19 years. After building the QA department in the Central Bank of Ireland from the ground up he is currently Head of QA & Test in Allied Irish Bank.

He has presented at ‘EuroSTAR’ Edinburgh, the world’s largest annual quality conference as well talks in Ireland.

Fergal was a steering committee member of the Software Quality Systems conference for the evaluation and selection of papers and presentations for the annual Software Quality conference 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

He is past Vice Chairman of the Special Interest Group on Software Testing Ireland, SIGST (
